You are so Kumbaya. You kind of remind me of Rodney King. "Can't we all just get along" Sure we can Vic. Just do this. Then click your heel together 3 times and repeat, "there's no place like home, there's no place like home"

It is what it is, because YOU and the core group are comfortable with the way it is. Possibly at the risk of how uncomfortable it is for outsiders. Or that it is not what they thought they were signing on for. They thought it was a boat site, and it turned out to be a chat room for a dozen core clique.

This place is like a hot babe. Your smile and words say "welcome", but your body language says "touch me and I will break your nose"
I don't know Bob. I don't know a single poster here. I will say this, He knows of what he speaks when it comes to the feel of most, if not all forums. A core clique, outsiders are just that. Bob's observations comparing this to FB are pretty close.

It's not that hard to be an insider. All you have to do is post. Once you're name is seen enough, the freindships start. I've met very few people on the forums over the years yet I have a substantial amount of posts because I choose to. It's a choice. Much of the time it might be drivel but when it comes to my forte, I'll make sure I'm there to help.

    I don't have a FB account so I can't comment there.

Mateo, you Vic, Eli, hell even Grads, seem like nice enough folks, and if somebody is coming on this site seeking boating friendships, then perhaps this is the place for them. But there are those of us who simply enjoy reading about, discussing and learning more about boats. I'm not saying I don't enjoy waiting to see if Grad's is going to blow up his paddleboard with a Willie Peter flare, of course I don't want him to get hurt, but the stories are funny as shit. But there's nothing I can add to it, it is what it is. I enjoy your jokes, I enjoy the pictures here, I enjoy the boat events being covered. But I'm not looking for new friends or a group to drink with. But that's just me, unlike what 2manymustangs believes and enjoys, there's a lot of us who boat because it often offers the opportunity to get away from people and the crowds. I don't care what the hoards are doing up at the sandbar or copper canyon, it's easy enough to boat the opposite or stay home those weekends.
Like Bob said, those that find here what they're seeking will stay and perhaps in time they'll be welcomed into the inner circle, or not and leave.
    Hey, at least I'm posting

I'm not looking for new friends either. I have enough of them and even that many is too many. I'm a work-a-holic and beyond that, a homebody if I don't have work to do.

As it relates to boating, I used boating the same way, find a channel and get away from the busyness of life. I use the forum the same way. Although some might not think so, I'm a VERY busy person with what I do. I just manage it really really really well and it allows me to flip through forums and post throughout the day in between the crazy never ending tasks I do. I post because it takes me away from the monotony of what I do. I always have to be doing four things at once.

Honestly I think the reference to this place being like a FB account is pretty funny.

As far as a clique. Here are a few book definitions for you.

Webster: : a small group of people who spend time together and who are not friendly to other people
Wiki: is a group of "persons who interact with each other more regularly and intensely than others in the same setting."
Dictionary.com: a small, exclusive group of people

With the exception of our "clique" not being friendly to other people, 100% inaccurate.

You may want to consider this. Only about 10% of the regular population of any social media site actually post. So if you have 200 regular IG followers, expect 20 to post on a regular basis. We have around 200 members on the site on a daily basis. And we have around 15-20 people that post on a regular basis. If you want to call those 20 a clique, I posted the definition and won't argue with you. But when the site has 500 on a regular basis and 50 people are posting on a daily basis, will you still call that a clique??

I will disagree with the UNFREINDLY definition, because I reserve that right, It can be indifferent, or closed. It does not have to be unfriendly.
    No need to be unfriendly.
Like dating a bitch that can only hold a conversation about her and her friends,
So I will stick to MY definition of a clique.

Exactly my feelings. Here's what I don't get; post to one another, about one another. Then, hang out at the lake or the river, then post to one another about what we did over the weekend?

Then; (this is hilarious) I read how Eli gets text's about what happened on the forum, about what we all did together over the weekend????? It all seems like a Chinese fire drill. Then, Eli posts on the forum about the texts she got about something?

I guess I don't really understand. Like Taboma, I'm not really looking for new boating friends. It's kinda like watching reality television I guess. I boat cuz I like lots of HP and don't enjoy speeding tickets.

Do you boat alone? With your wife/kids? A group of friends? Do you meet up with friends when you boat OR do you launch/run/load and go home?

I dont want anyone to get me wrong, at times I may want to check out a freak show like Party COve or the channel at Havazoo but typically it would be a much smaller group, just family... BUT if your boating with even just 2-3 others it's still a social activity no???

I dont see many folks at the races sitting there with a program/binoculars watching the races and not visiting/socializing with others around them...

I do like reading about boat tech/engine tech/history threads but I'll be damned if I am going to make a comment knowing that someone is going to trash me and call me names and threaten to "bitch slap" me the next time he sees me over my comment/question/input/opinion... FUCK that... And for the record, there will be NO "bitch slapping" of anyone if im around... The person that made that statement knows who/when/why he said it AND knows that its a bunch of B.S.... SO many people just read/look at the pics and move on to a more social thread where they feel that they are among friends...

Funny you ask. Typically I get up really early, go alone and get the good water for a few hot laps. Trailer it, clean it, drive it home and still have all day with the family. Wife has lost interest in the lake. Been doing the heat too long for her.
