The exhaust holes in the transom are filled. So I'm trying to decide if I should build new straight pipes or modify these to merge into one. Either way they are still going to be thru-transom and above the water line. If I merge them, they will end up with one oval shaped tip about 4" x 7". It will sound bitchin merged but it might be a bitch to work on. Opinions................

It will look a little unique, but it won't much different unless you merge them pretty close to the collector to increase the length of the single pipe. This didn't sound any different than without the merge oval. It doesn't matter how much pipe you have before the merge, if the merge happens near the end of the pipes, it does have much effect on the sound.
Now the builder of these ended up building a set of 180* headers to use with these, and that did change the sound, but it wasn't due to the collector.
