Smile Ford F-150 "EcoBoost"..Anyone have one?

My dad is in the market for one, it's a 3.5L V6, turbo, 365hp.

Does anyone on the boards have one, or have any thoughts about that engine?

Is the gas mileage really what they're saying 22mi/hwy?

Do you all like the truck and would you recommend one?

He and I were out at the local ford dealer in OC recently looking at the FX4, 4x4 Supercrew.

Can't go wrong for all around power/comfort/mileage

    I'd say pull the trigger!

I've seen a lot of them out there. 22mpg is insane compared to my 12mpg and only 40 or so less HP. Doesn't look like Ford is doing a ecoboost Raptor for 14'. Hopefully 15', mine will only be good for 1 more year or so.

    Eco boost is no joke.....

Tons of power with decent mpg. I wouldn't believe the 22 mpg but considering the HP/tq you shouldn't be worried about a couple mpg.

Crazy part is if you want to tune that motor there is a ton of power to be had.

    This.

I know someone with a tune and intake that goes to the track regularly and beats up on most of the talent there.

Eco boost Raptor would/will be the hot ticket.

I've had one for a while and it seems really good. 22 mpg is highway only, otherwise its 15-20 . Power and brakes are so good I wonder how long it will last before something bad happens....However I know some farmers who have over 100k on them and beat the shit out of them so that is why I decided to pull the trigger on one

I've had one for a little over a year now and have about 50k on it. Over the last 15,000 miles I've averaged 19.3 mpg and can get 20-24 mpg if on the highway with cruise control at 65-70. All in all its a great truck, my boat weighs 8,560 on the trailer (according to the scale), I've tried towing my boat about 20 miles and thought I was going to die. Also to note, when I did tow my boat it was at least 500# lighter because my 500efi wasn't in it, so really when I towed my boat I was about 8,060 pounds. Anything else you want to know?

I was going to ask what the towing capacity was but it sounds like it's not very good at towing 8000 lbs. I was thinking of making the switch from my F350 to an F150 because I cant stand the ride. I get almost 18 mpg in my Diesel on the highway.

I'm a broken record, but I had a rental all summer of '12 and loved the ecoboost!
It was an '11 model year, crew cab with the tall gears, 3:21, I think. I did manage 22 mpg, but in hwy conditions at 70. I would think 18-20 is more to be expected.
I did not tow anything, but truck seemed plenty capable. The back seat area is huge. I would get the 3:50 or 3:73 gearing though. I like the FX4 package too.

Pokey, you should call Dan Hernandez at RSM Ford, he's the fleet sales guy.
