New guy with jet boat

Hey guys just wanted to introduce myself. Im a new owner of a 1980 mantra jet boat it has a 454 bbc in with berkely pump.
Little history,
The boat used to race against my Dad back in the early 90s, in lake class. They became great friends and helped each wrench on their boats. Long story short my Dads friend wanted to sell it, so my grandfather bought it. He ran it for a year or so then it would just sit on the boat lift. The boat sat for a good 8 yrs, until my uncle got it. He got it running again and cleaned it up. He cleaned it up best he could but the nice headers were just to far gone. I bought the boat last week and took it out today.

Ran great did 72 via gps, idled awesome as well. My plan is to just clean it up good and cruise it. Luckily my Dad is still friends with the engine builder. He has records still of whats in the motor.

Im in central Tx ive only taken it on lake lbj but hope lake Austin as well.

Boat is solid but some of the gel coat is turning yellow, not sure what to do about that. It needs a new set of headers the rust bothers me.

Thanks guys! Is there any good websites to buy stuff for jets? Id like to replace a few things on my jet drive.

Hey thanks! Seems like the jets are a dying breed. Quick question, my nozzle oring is mishaped and sticking out. I ran it before i noticed it, ran fine and steered good. Did i screw anything up?
