Because I don't want politics here, that's why.
It started getting pretty political so I closed it. I chose to not have politics over many different topics. It was an easy target and no one wins in a political argument anyway, so whats the point? And I truly believe boats and politics don't mix

Kool aid drinkers very seldom like discussing politics.
I guess locking a thread is some what better than deleting one. Never did understand why Wendi's thread about the stolen scooter was deleted.
No doubt being the owner of the site has it privileges. If you want the site to look like your personal Facebook page, that's what it will look like.

You're pretty much dead wrong GN7. I don't drink cool aid, never have. I'm sorry you don't agree with my position of not having a PRF, but to be honest, it would only stink up the place. As far as deleting threads, that rarely happens now. I will lock a thread down and clean up the comments that I believe are offensive, but I will not delete a thread in its entirety. And I don't have a personal FB page. Well actually I do, but I have zero friends
Thank you for your support.

Sorry to change the subject but I was on a job walk last week at Toyota in Torrance and seen 2 guys from Rusher Air there. One was a gray hair with a gray beard. Anybody you know.

Then wouldn't the boat tag fee thread fall into the political category? Why was that allowed?

It was semi boating related. Yes it was borderline and probably should have been locked down, but I chose to leave it open.
Your thread got guys like GN7 who are very politically opinionated to post up their political feelings that were completely and 100% not related to boating in any form or fashion, so I locked it down.
If you're looking to catch me in a black and white rule type argument, that ain't gonna happen. I'm as slippery as they come. And yes GN7, ownership does have its benefits, and it also has its liabilities. None of which I've asked anyone here to share in.

Thanks for clarifying. I'm not asking you to change what you do with your own property (this site), I just want to know what is acceptable content and what is not.

NGE someone has to be in charge, I've assumed that responsibility. Not sure I like it, but it is what it is. The site is here for everyone. As far as what isn't acceptable, here are the top 4 again:
1. Nudity.
2. Porn.
3. Insults, personal attacks, slander, threats, or trashing, of other members or companies or entities or other websites.
4. Politics.
But like I said, you won't catch me in a black and white rule deal, unless its #1 or #2. The others have a little grey area here and there. Things said in jest carry a lot less weight than things said in earnest. It really is as simple as playing nice. As far as limiting what people post? LOL. Look at the crap Grads has posted. So yeah, we're pretty loose. Just don't push it everyday. Hope that helps.
