I'm guessing this is directed at me, I grew up in So. Cal. and we always used the shortened term frisco. It's the same thing as saying Cali. I don't use it as a slander, it's everyday stuff where I grew up. It's short for Fracisco, that's all.

Growing up we called it Frisco and Diego...just like we say "the 405" "the 101" and "the bomb"
