That single shot does look a little crazy. But the reality is its not as crazy as it appears. If you look closely, the 2 boats have already had contact and there is damage on the side the #69 Sanger as hull damage on the left side slightly obscured by the water spray caused by the damaged hull.
If I remember correctly the Sanger crossed in front of Caselli and he hit the Sanger, jumping over it. But I could be mistaken on the exact events.
