25 daytona makeover

I figured I would post some pictures of my 25 daytona re rig. I didn't do a very good job taking pictures along the way but I'll post what I have

The boat is a 2000 Eliminator 25 daytona that I bought a year ago with a 454 and a stock bravo. Nothing special. Here are some before pics. I ran the boat once just to get some baseline numbers. It ran a blistering 55 mph on gps.








You can see from the pictures the boat was in rough shape. It was complete and ran but definitely had been neglected.

I owned the boat less than two weeks and it was completely stripped.




Once the boat was stripped I pulled it off the trailer. No point doing all this work on the boat to drag it around on a worn out trailer.

Here is the trailer in the booth with some fresh paint.

A couple of pics once I got the boat back on the trailer.


It's tough to see in the picture but the front of the trailer where the beams come together has been filled in and carpeted. There is also a spare tire mount on the first cross member under the boat.
You can also see the mounts for the tool boxes on the front of the trailer. They got powder coated black to match.

I did not take nearly enough pictures of the fiberglass stage. The bilge was sanded smooth and all the holes were filled. The exhaust was filled and moved up about 8 inches. The dash was filled and re sprayed and the entire boat was color sanded and buffed.

I don't have any good pictures of the dash or outside of the boat but this picture shows the transom with all the old holes filled in.

The 454 was sold and a 950 hp whipple motor was planned. However I am no different than everyone else and I am seldom satisfied with a project for long. I ran the whipple motor twice before we built a 1230 hp fuel injected monster for it. Pictures of that to come. ah screw it. here's a teaser.

All the hardware on the boat was stripped and clear anodized. No more peeling purple powder coat. You can see the exhaust holes have not been drilled yet. I wanted to make sure the pipes would come out above the wing plates on the box and not interfear with the swim steps at all.

Ok, the holes are cut now. Anyone who has ever done this knows what a pain it is. A 5-1/2" hole saw will make kick your ass if your not careful.

Here is the motor that was going into the boat first. 540 ci BBC with dart pro 1 heads and a 3.3 whipple. Estimated 900-950hp.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the boat turns out. I love the new trailer and the standoff box.

The trailer really did come out great. It is the first thing I do to just about every boat I buy. There is nothing worse than trailer problems in 120 degree heat in the middle of the desert. The standoff box was a controversial issue. Everyone said I wouldn't need it and they were right. I knew I didn't need it but I had it. The 25 daytona is a good handling boat and doesn't need a whole lot of help. I bought the motor standoff box and drive as a package for an unbelievable price. The box was basically free. Did I need it? No. Does it look bad ass? Ya
