I think due to the rules regarding concavity a given distance from the transom, or once the chine runs parallel with the water line.
The angles of the bow area get flatter as you go out from the keel. It makes the nose very difficult to stuff. Deeper it gets in the water, the flatter the surface gets.
Its all optical. What looks like simple strakes are actually layers creating strakes and concaves. But you have to view it at the right angle to see it.
Looking at it from this angle, it all looks perfectly normal. Look at it from dead on from the front, and its completely different.
Thanks for the detailed explanation. So the earlier hulls didn't have the varying v angles...?

That's the part that has me a little confused. I have never seen a 20ft that early. I know he made some changes at the same time he tooled the 21, but not all that certain what all the changes were. The whole ad makes me go MMMMmmm.
He did come up with some interesting ads.

He appears to be well, full of energy and no crutches.

There were a lot of different types of hulls in all the sprint classes back in the early 70's. SK was short for ski (boat) and they were originally limited to 400 inches. They did allow for a little bit bigger engines just before the class disappeared around 1980.
