These guys need the safety tip. I nearly took a nose dive on that cord! Then I walked into the bathroom and there was a guy in there! I've been traumatized today :(
Are those stiltz easy to use for a first timer? I need to fill and paint my crown moulding and was thinking about picking up a pair for this job. Good or bad idea?

They are easy to use but in your case I would not suggest them besides, they're illegal in Ca.
While painting the crown you will only be able to handle 2 - 2 1/2 feet at a time before the latex paint starts to surface dry and drag. I would suggest a plank and a couple of ladders and don't forget the safety harness.

What no comment on wearing stilts while standing on a rolling scaffold? What about the beer? it was after 3 ya know.
The plank that I'm standing on is an OSHA approved scaffolding plank, at least it was when I stole it from the plaster's!
If I were to be scared, it would be the last pic that caused concern. There was no room for scaffolding on the back side of the house and someone had to do it.
To top it off I left my safety harnesses with my brother as I didn't want him to fall off his roof!
