My heartache wasn't a broken heart at all. I just didn't take the amount of disappointment very well. I had to learn that some people are just not good people and I cannot and do not have to make sense of it, all I can do is accept it. But, I'm grateful that rather than allowing it to turn me bitter, I chose to learn from it. I'm very grateful, happy and most of all extremely lucky.
Thank you for the early birthday wishes.
Your wife is beautiful!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh Grassssssssshopper, you have grown quite wise in our 40....errr um, 39.999 years...
All of this introspective is giving me KUNG FOO flashbacks... That and eating another batch of Hud's KUNG FOO mushoomies I guess...

You made me think of this great prayer:
Serenity Prayer
Reinhold Niebuhr (1892-1971)
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
forever in the next.
Amen.

That's the Serenity Prayer used at Al-Anon meetings.
