The scenario I DON'T believe is the plane landed somewhere and all the passengers and crew are being held hostage. No demands have been made by any extremists.

I bet it landed somewhere and they are going to use it as a WMD :-( I think the U.S. Military has good enough technology that if it was in the water and pinging that it would have been found by now
