Here's one.....I'm only the third generation of a family that immigrated from Italy, and although I have an Italian lineage, I am an American, born and raised, as was my parents, and my Grandparents. Why then, do people refer to black people as "African Americans"????? Instead of bracketing them with the African moniker ( unless you really were born in Africa, or were brought here from Africa before the Civil War ), why doesn't society / government / and Blacks themselves, just view them as Americans? They need not be called "Black Americans" either for the same reason I don't need to be called out as a "White American". I have a friend born in Haiti, and he's black and he's NOT an African American. Hmmmmmmmm
