Love this video. That's at a ship scrap yard in Turkey. They come in hot onto the landing then they loosely chain it in place and start cutting it down for scrap.

There was a great story on one of the news channels on the dismantling of ships. Was an interesting documentary.
Most of it get scrapped or are they able to re-use some parts in new builds?
It doesn't make sense why they would beach a perfectly good ship....it obviously floats and runs. What is it worth scrapped? Seems to me someone would buy it if it is running.
That ship is probably 30+ yrs old. Maybe it's reached its in service life expectancy.Quote:
