You can't ever put any sort of butt stock/plate on it :shhh: THAT would be a violation of federal law... ;) wink wink... You can also NOT put that upper on any of your carbine lowers, no matter how quick and simple that may be, ;) that too would be a violation of federal law...
YOU CAN however get a rubber crutch cap and put it on the end of the buffer tube, some have recieved approval letters from the ATF stating as such... You can probably obtain a copy of the letter from C&S metal werks in St Charles MO if you have a hard time getting it directly from the ATF...
YOU CAN get a permit and pay the fees for a SBR and have the short pistol upper on a carbine lower, with minimal effort/cost/paperwork... It just takes time and patience... AND a clean record...

Let me add 1 more BIG NO NO. You can have a pistol upper and a rifle lower. But you'd better have a rifle upper too. Having a rifle lower and pistol upper stored together, even though they're not attached is a free one way ticket to the grey bar hotel.
