This really is a one of a kind event. Lake of the Ozarks (LOTO as we call it) is one of the most unique places in the country for several reasons:
1. The lake is owned by Ameran power company. This means if you buy lakefront property, you own the land to the waterfront, and you can build your own dock.
2. As mentioned there are waterfront bars and restaurants with docks all over the lake.
3. Condo and home rentals are plentiful
4. Countless boat dealers/brokers/service marinas on or near the lake.
5. Large grocery stores, shopping, etc.
6. Off water bars and restaurants
7. Homes and condos for sale very reasonably priced with extremely low taxes
8. Most importantly some of the best, most awesome boats in the country can be found running around the lake on any given weekend! The lake is 94 miles long so there is plenty of room to air out these boats!

I have been on Havasu once, I bought a 32 advantage and when I came to pick it up at the factory I ran the lake, I would love to make it out to Desert Storm when I get my next go fast....I currently only have a Playcraft Powertoon with a 300 verado, but plan on something else soon......From what I hear Desert Storm is quite the experience.

We were there both days, we go every weekend April through Nov.... we were anchored on the front line near mid track on Sat and then just hovered around on Sunday.

Another one here checking in from LOTO. I used to hang around these forums back when i had my LSx powered jet boat...haven't been here in awhile though. AWESOME coverage, Hotboat. I'll echo what everyone else has said in regards to enjoying reading your first impressions of the Lake and of the Shootout. No better time for a first visit to LOTO!

For next year, you guys will definitely want to check out either the party at Dog Days on Friday night, the party at Camden on Friday night, or both.

That water looks insane. We were told it gets rough there. I asked if it was the wind, "uh no, not the wind, boats". Holy cow, it looks like a washing machine. My little boat wouldn't stand a chance in that.

Randy Kent...He built the Speed Racer MTI's originally and I think the Monopoly Black Thunder before this one, his last boat prior was a Dragon. He owns Marine Concepts, they do the boat covers that attach to your dock and slide around your boats.

Only the old Predator was there. Vern at West Coast Drives brought the boat with Brummett turbo 1700s, and they ran 169,176mph with Gary driving and trottling. Last time I asked Gary he said he might take the newer Predator to the Destin PR, but idk? I haven't talked to him in a few weeks.

Nice coverage, before we moved to Florida I boated for 30 years and we lived full time at LOTO for eight at the 23MM of the Osage and have gone to every Shootout there's been, anyway, people kept asking us isn't it going to be rougher in the ocean, apparently not everyone hasn't been on LOTO on a Saturday afternoon in the main channel in the Summer, the 3-4 rollers we have down here on occasion are nothing at all compared to the washtub of the LOTO, it's unbelievable and you wouldn't believe unless you're seen it or boated in it.
This is a piece of cake boating in the Gulf.

That's the problem, I'm guessing maybe only half of the bar/restaurants have a dock big enough for anything that big and al lot of house docks aren't either, I think it's going to be sitting as a ego dock show peice for someone who has size problem.

As nice as LOTO is, there are even nicer lakes in MO... (table rock, bull shoals, mark twain, and on and on and on) we have LOTS of water here...

Do they have chiggers too?? LOL Mrs HB got eaten alive the 4-5 days we were there. At the AP on the way home a lady told us a chigger tale. After that we were like wtf, where is the nearest hospital so we can go get these suckers cut out hahaha. But it did take weeks or longer for the bites to go away. Funny how they didn't touch me, guess that blood/alcohol mix didn't agree with them :D

Chiggers are mean MOFOs... and they do like certain people better...

They dont like me fortunately... They chew into your skin, die and itch like mad for about one week... IF the alcohol doesnt repel them, it helps get past the one week itch phase... :)

Stay on the concrete at CAMDEN ON THE LAKE and you won't have chigger issues... :thumb:
