My favorite Carl story is about his famous baked beans...

He and I had a cook off at Marine Stadium several years back and the judges were THe Doctor and his sons BUZZ/Paul as I recall... AND CHris Davidson... I won with my KC masterpiece baked beans, no big deal...

THe FUNNY part that I have told over and over to my family/friends is Carl's story...

He told how as a kid they would fight over the chunk of pork in the can of beans, so when he got older and started making his special POT O BEANS... THe rule was EVERYONE gets bacon in each bite...

He would put a LARGE amount of bacon in his POT O BEANS which were VERY VERY good by the way...

My baked beans are sweet/southern style... BUT CARL's baked beans are more of a SouthWest type almost like CHilli, and yes, EVERYONE gets BACON in every bite... AND they are very good!!!

I like to tell about his idea of EVERYONE GETS THE BACON...

It is always so cool getting to see him roll in early the last few years and chill out with him/Rick/Steve for a bit before things got too crazy at the staduim.

Saturday AM was always crazy with the early SAT move in...

THen Sunday AM Carl always has his coffee maker cranked up early, coming out in his jammies/slippers and peering out through blood shot slits for eyes... ALWAYS WITH a big smile just like in his picture above...

Sharing doughnuts/coffee Sunday AM, this is always a highlight of the weekend for me with Carl/Armem/Stevie/Rick and all the other early AM Sunday risers...
