    I would just light cut and buff. Then wax the chit out of it. You said you're only keeping it for a few years. It's not that bad. If you re gel the entire boat you'll never get that money back. But $500 in material and your sweat in labor will pay for its self.

    I used boat candy on mine and it looks great! Get a good orbital buffer and pads. Makes it a lot easier.

    My opinion is just that, an opinion. But being that I went through this 3 years ago I'll throw this out there. That boat is field stripped to basically a bathtub. If you're planning on repainting it then do it now. If you put it all together then I'm pretty sure the last thing you'll want to do is pull it all down again. Paint it white and put some vinyl on it for some color and put it together. Sitting on the beach sucks!!!!!!! Get that old girl on the water.

    Gelcoat is petroleum based and once it dries out from the sun and chemical damage it becomes pours. Wet sanding and polishing helps close up the pours and seals the gelcoat giving it a nice new shine, but only for a short period of time. You can repeat the process but eventually you will sand through the color. An interesting fact is apply peanut butter to dry faded out gelcoat, wipe away and it will look new again from the oils.

    As far as cost goes it all depends on how much work is involved. Use RR's boat as an example it could be from $5k to $10k to have it done properly. can it be done for cheaper? sure but you pay for what you get.

    Value is determined by the end user, re gelcoating your boat will not add value to NADA. However if said end user is purchasing a boat they would gladly spend more on a boat that has already been restored.

    If you re-gel coat it doesn't that have the same potential of fading with sun and chemical exposure? Or am I missing something?

    All gelcoat will eventually have the same fate, best solution is to store indoors.

    Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to educate me. I find this stuff very interesting.

    The first time I met TBI, he taught me how to pick out a good paint job from a bad one. Now, I'm always trying to touch people's boats lol.

    Let me know if you're interested in having the pump gone through, or want pricing on any rigging hardware. When I left Rex Marine a few years ago, I started my own marine parts and rigging/repair business and have been slowly growing it over the past year or so.

    I'm also a dealer for Boat Candy too if you decide you wanna go that route =)

    Swim step....Single or a pair with brackets (depending on the price of course)
    Flip up bow light....Maybe LED or regular, depending on the price
    ski tow

    I think the color is anodized or brushed......whatever the silver looking finish is.

    Do you work on place diverters? I need 2 hoses from the pump to the jet
