Just called Chris and he sure sounded good and excited. Got some new boat builds all ready to get started on and got the new shop all up and running. Little smaller then previous shop holds about 10 boats. He also said that they are doing some off road type stuff to as a side venture from the shop. Looks like the 39 sold for 200K or is pending sale at that price. Said he sold the old shop in one day for great price and his brother Jeff who has been in the business for 40 years finally retired. I first got interested in Laveys around 1991 at the boat show. They were being made at the shop in the city of Industry and the Camire brothers almost had me sold on a 21 Mod Vp with an outboard at the show but I just didn't want to go outboard. I ended up with a 21 Eliminator Daytona the following year but I always liked the quality of Laveycraft and the guys that owned and worked there. Sounds like Chris is getting off to a good start with the next phase of the Lavey lineage. Wish him and the crew best of luck.

Boats weighs about 1800LB and its got a 406 Small block with 500HP and like 520 FT LB. and carries that across a wide spread. It will run wide open comfortably till the tanks run dry. Goes 90 with a light load and standard b428 runs a few Mph faster with a 3 blade 91-2 but picks up mid range slip.

Handling is mind boggling - its got an ITS steering system and fully hydraulic steering in it- which is beyond overkill, but the boat will pull your head off in a turn. Same steering system on the 2750 at 5300LB.

Blew the 406 up last spring and after saving my pennies and dimes I ended up with this baby...It's done sitting on a pallet.

This ought to "light up" that 20.8 pretty good.

Boostpower 725HP/ 588 cubes AEM injected.

speaking of the pico boat shop

If you checkout Laveys new website one of the opening pictures that rotates on the home page is of Al Lavey and his gang all wearing Pico boatshop-t shirts. I helped the crew there gather up and get these old photos digitized.

I wonder who the kid was and where he is today, that must have been a hell of a lotta fun.
