You will see a lot of different sizes when it comes to the rails, I ran 3/8 3x3 angle on my day cruiser and 3/8 plate for all engine mounts. I liked the 3X3 for the day cruiser because of the tall stringers and the proportions looked right to me. On my Flat I run 2x2 angle for the rails still 3/8 stuff. Here are a few pics of what we built, any metal supply house will have this stuff in stock, probably around $200 for all materials. Many shops will have a remnant area for the plate, you can usually save a few bucks looking thru this as they sell by the weight. I use Phillips steel in Long beach always have what I need and very organized place.
