    Good thing they'll replace it.

Snapped the 11/16 socket trying to take the clutch basket nut off with a 350lb torque wrench.

Sears is great about replacing tools but once they had an issue because I used a regular socket in an impact.

So don't say it was on an impact when I replace it?

Their standard sockets are not meant for impact wrenches and a 16 point socket is the weakest possible choice for a tough job. Just saying.
Even a Harbor Freight cheapo impact 8-point socket will endure such a job.

The Harbor Freight adapter was the next thing to break when I pulled out the Allied 8-point.

Needless to say, the nut is still holding the clutch basket in place.

...Use a proper socket, and , ( Christmas is coming ), invest in some higher quality tools than Freight sells. As for Craftsman tools....well, I am guessing the case here is likely mis-use of the tool, than the tool being defective.

Sometimes it leaves marks on the inside from hammering. Only a problem if you get someone who knows what there looking at. What are the odds of that.

Did you mean to say a 6 point verses a 12 point?
Yes, a Harbor Freight 6 impact socket is stronger than a standard Craftsman 12 or 6 point. If he has room for it.

Long day I guess. I've never seen a 16 point socket but I have drawers full of 12s and another drawer full of 6s.
