We arrived at the race course just in time for the start of the GN heat on Friday, grabbed my camera with the shorter lens and started to shoot from the hill above the south turn. Of course the PA system was not clear enough for us to hear at that distance, but it appeared that Dave Rankin in GN44 was showing Joey Cucci in the "Body Snatcher" GN 24 the way around the course in the opening laps.

Well,, so after Joey got his eyes opened by what was in the turn in front of him, he was able to drive past Dave while Dave was busy checking his shorts. It didn't take much time before Dave was out front again, although Joey did retire the boat before the heat was finished.
