No need for AZ DL, we did it even with a CDL....as long as you have an AZ address it was all we needed.

I was referring to driving a AZ plated vehicle in CA with a CA DL is an issue

Could be an issue but I'm guessing you could probably talk your way through it if you explain that you're taking the car to your home in AZ where the car will be permanently based. You would of course have to explain that you just purchased it (which would be borne out by the title) and are in the process of taking it to AZ where it will remain. A jerk could be a problem but the reality is the reality. If the car is to remain in AZ it is required to be licensed in that state, yada, yada, yada.....and of course you better be headed east when pulled over
Of course if you get pulled over by Barney Fife then you're going to have to write a letter to explain but in the end you will be fine.......just ask Joker, he gets pulled over for this shit all the time
