    A few Shit hole Pictures

Had a nice relaxing 5 days at The Shit Hole aka Colorado River. Other than a little light wind, we couldn't have had better weather. The water was up pretty high and we pretty much had the river to ourselves. I'm beginning to loose interest for busy weekends.

I finally got to check out Iguanas next to the VFW on the river in BHC. Pretty neat place but boat parking is limited to one dock which seemed weird. So we tied the boats together (no big deal). The place is a little run down, but the service and food were good! Oh and they make a pretty nice cocktail!

We haven't boated that section of the river in years. It used to be the place we went back in the day. The water was freezing cold and the current was insane. You had to put your trailer about 30-40d tilt down river to get your boat on the trailer at the Riverside ramp.

Back then Harrah's was pretty nice. Last time I stayed there it scared me.

Since the close of the SCE Mohave Plant, that entire area has taken a pretty serious economical blow. Not sure if it will ever recover.

The sunset picture was taken from the Willow Valley Marina. The Monday evening boat ride down river from the dam was incredible. We left the Laughlin strip right at sunset. I would've taken pictures but my phone was dead. The lights from the casinos reflecting off the river is a sight to see.

It was a very last minute trip so I rode out with a friend in his Duramax (Boy I really want another one.) I store my boat in Mohave Valley. The Ford has been running good. I haven't had it on another road trip yet and I probably won't for awhile. I've been going to the river every other weekend for the past two months. I think I need to stay home for a little while and get some work around the house done.

I've never launched in that current and would never wish to. I've stayed in Laughlin a dozen or so times (AVI, Aquarius, and Golden Nugget) and have always trailered my boat down to Willow Valley or Jack Smith to launch. That current is gnarly.

We had planned to launch at Katherine's Landing on Monday, but there was a light breeze so we didn't want to risk it being windy up there.

I feel ya on getting out of your comfort zone. I told myself that this year that I would start visiting other areas of this stream of water. I haven't gone north of the Avi Casino in about 5 years. I haven't been on Mohave in almost 10. I do the majority of my boating between the Avi and Parker Dam. I plan to get up to Mohave and to Parker this summer. I'd like to rent a trailer in Parker and stay in a park on the water. I need do some asking around on that subject.
