Less than a week ago the news broke that one of Australia's finest female water ski racers, Sarah Teelow, died while racing in the annual Bridge to Bridge Race. Now one of America's water ski racing legends has passed, Danny Churchill. Not only was Churchill one of the all-time greats of the sport (winner of the 1972 Catalina Ski Race, held the world quarter mile drag record for skiers, and was one of only three men to ever win the Lake Mead 75 Miler, 50-Miler and Men's Open class all in the same weekend), but he was also responsible for creating and popularizing a number of water sports equipment (the Knee Ski, EZ-Ski Trainer, etc.). Services are currently pending. There will be a 'celebration of life' in Danny's honor in January -- details to be announced.
