Project is coming to a close and I am just now starting the thread. O well. Better late than never. Here are a few pics and I will get more. Motor is a 468 with iron heads 9.5 to 1 or so compression and a flat tappet hydraulic cam shaft. The owner was less concerned with big power as he was with appearance. We wanted t build it the way somebody would have done it in the 70s when the boat was new.

The paint is similar to Chevy orange but with a lot of metal flake
The valve covers and air filter for custom painted as well

    Let's not forget the transmission

How does the waterpump work if it's bolted to the crank?

Base is bolted to the balancer and spins the pump shaft with the motor. The polished arm comes off the block and holds the body keeping it from turning. I know some v drive purists will have a problem with it but mechanically it should work fine. Volvo, many ski boats, and most diesels run this same setup. Motor was originally destined for a jet boat so no cam drive was used. This was the easier cheaper route.

Just realized the water pump mount is on the motor in these pictures. I will get better ones up soon.
