I would do a little glass work on that old strut hole, and then run the blast plate over. Did mine a few years back but I had the boat upside down, not very difficult to do but it looks like snow when you are done. I used 1/8 stainless plate for mine, BIL is a machinest so i made patterns and he cut them then i did final fit.

Ok, got the boat back from Arrow Trailers. They installed a new complete rear axle and repacked the bearings in the front axle.
Next, I am going to take the boat to Scott Schatz at S&S Performance and Marine to have him make me an aluminum blast plate and do the install. He seems like a fair/good guy from talking to him on the phone and talking to a couple guys that recommended him. I got the pleasure of spending some time with Greg on a couple occasions....always had a smile as big as him every time we talked. He's got to be grinning again just see this thing getting done. Very cool.
