The new GoPro HD Hero3 records in 4k. The new TV technology just trickling out now plays 4k.

The current cat's pajama's....1080p is 1920x1080 pixels.

4k..... 4096 x 2160 pixels.

Basically, it's like an amp that goes to 11.

You're pretty much screwed if you're hoping to stay in front of the curve. GoPro will always have something you'll want after you make your first purchase. Lots in the pipe right now too. Just start somewhere...if you can afford a repower in the daytona then you can afford a GoPro or 3.

Sony, LG and Samsung are the current players but if there's any traction through black friday you can bet your cornhole there are going to 4k TV's clogging up commercial time right before the super bowl.

They had an 8K at C.E.S. this last year. Maybe I was 16K. Whatever it was, it was clear. People were shoving their faces right at the screen and it was still pure.
