That was my original plan. But after thinking about it I decided to make everything separate. I was concerned that any movement of the motor plate and the block might create an oil leak. So I thought it best to keep them separated.
The gap between the three pieces is much tighter than it looks on the CAD file. .090 distance, so it will look close to being one piece.

WOW WOW WOW, I think I got left on the 60's somehow, and was barely born in that decade.

When you start to build can you snap some shots of the process? Very cool!

Okay, got the timing cover base machined tonight.
The material is faced and the dowel pin holes are drilled along with 2 bolt holes to hold the work piece down. Sub plate is then faced and dowel pins drilled and pressed into the plate to locate the timing cover for machining.
Part is then faced and profile roughed out with a insert hogging mill.

It's then finished with an endmill on the profile and the cover recess is machined in.

All the mounting holes are now drilled and the lowers are tapped for the cover. Bolts are now put in the mounting holes and tightened so the part doesn't move when machining out the inside profile.
