I'm about 95% sure that this is the Cessna 172 on floats out of Havasu where they do instruction. It's probably a standard procedure to practice docking and tie-up......as long as they are there why not eat

Pretty cool to see them land that thing. They don't tie up to the docks though, they beach it right at the motor homes between moored boats. The kids get a kick out of it.

Yeah they practice a lot in the cove behind our place at the Palms, so we see that plane a lot throughout the year!

Would a 172 pull itself out of the water with floats?

My CFI & I are both big boys, his 172 needed 2/3 of Chino to get off the ground on a hot summer day LOL

Well...........that's a good question......a 182 would certainly be much better. You should see these guys having to rock off one float to reduce drag to get that thing out of the water....but they haven't crashed yet

It was a great plane and had it for about 12 years......it was a godsend when we were traveling back and forth to Havasu with limited time off but after we moved here full time I just couldn't justify keeping it with the limited use we were giving it.....not to mention AvGas at $5.80 a gallon so.............now we have a kitchen

Paul that must be one hell of a Kitchen. I would think just eliminating the wet hours in that bird and the annual maintenance would provide for a damn nice kitchen
