20 Years Ago - Northridge Quake
Well I remember I was jolted out of bed by the quake many years ago. Had to get dressed and head on out to Reseda where my Grandma's house pretty much fell over. Chimney fell and crashed through the roof, patio collapsed as put holes into the house and there were cracks everywhere.
My aunt's apartment complex fell into itself. They had to climb out a window to even get out. Three story complex.
It's the second most expensive disaster in US history behind Katrina. Where were you and did it affect you?

I had no idea it was 2nd behind Katina, I was at home recovering from ACL surgery. I can tell you from watching it all on TV, Penhall Equipment made a fortune from that disaster.

I was I Hawaii.. I remember, after hearing about the parking structure collapses, it took 2 days to find out if our car was flat or not.. It survived, but was covered in dust when we got back..

I lived on White Oak and Ventura. 10 miles from the epicenter. I'll never forget my mother's voice screaming try to break the door down to get to my sister and I because our bedroom door was stuck. Her feet were all cut from the glass she ran through to protect her babies. We couldn't go into our place for 3 days and we didn't care bc we were all safe.
It sure was scary. Oh and our earthquake kit wasn't on our mind as we tried to find our way out. So it wasn't accessible when we needed it most.
Where do you keep your kit?

I was 9yrs old...Just remember being woken up by my mom all frantic. We lived in San Pedro at the time.
No damage to the house or anything. We actually went whale watching that day.
