Cant be 500 CI, the DOHC modulars do look huge but when the heads are off the block they look about the same as a 5.0 block. I dont think that the Shelby's recieved the 5.4 (330 inch) but they may now... WHen ford made the GTs a few years ago they were 5.4's...

Nice rides!!! one of my friends/neighbors that does tuning/dyno has OR had two originals in his shop for some freshining up... prolly 1.5 million in two cars sitting in his shop, last time I was down there the jade green car was in a million pieces as the owner decided to have him totally dismantle the car (which was crated and shipped over from Japan)... He called me up and told me to come over "I have something in my shop that you dont get to see every day"... He does DYNO days for the gateway shelby club, he used to work for SUN automotive...
Im told that the owner of these two originals was having them prepped for some race that was supposed to take place before C.S. passed away but never ended up happening... THey were going to road race 25 originals??? SOunds insane to me...
OH, another neighbor has an original 289 car that belonged to his father... His dad took the original 289 HIPO out and sold it in a driver mustang in the mid 70's... My neighbors brother found the ORIGINAL ENGINE on eBAY a few years ago in the same CENTRAL ILLINIOIS area where his father sold the engine/mustang... There were markings on the engine from the guys father (he stamped his own ID in the block/heads/intake)... It is a story for SuperFord or Car Craft, amazing that he found the original engine some 30 years later AFTER his dad died and they did a full resto...
The story of how this neighbor purchased the complete small block COBRA was crazy in itself... I know the guy and his girlfriend well and know the story to be true...

Your correct 2MM, it's not 500ci. It said 500 on the engine and looks huge in the engine compartment. Quick google search says it's 5.8L, would that make it 351ci?

That could be, they keep changing the bore/stroke of the modulars around... Originally there was the 4.6 (281) and the 5.4 (330) and now the new 5.0 which I belive is a SOHC three valve head, dont know the bore/stroke or CID of the new 5.0...
Seems I did hear about a larger (bigger than 5.4) CID modular recently

Don't listen to GN7 though, the OHC engines are a joke in his opinion...
Lets get this straight ONE MORE TIME MORON.
SOHC and 427 cubic inches together is a joke.
So is the price of a Shelby.

The 4.6 was NEVER used in the Shelby 500. The first years were 5.4, the newer ones are 5.8.
The Ford COBRA, and MACH 1 were DOHC 4 valve 4.6. The Cobra was an aluminum block, the Mach was iron block. The Cobra was IRS, the Mach was solid live axle.
The "500" tag is nothing more than a throwback to the Shelby 500, not cubic inches.
Word is, there may be a "350" in 2015.
Considering that virtually everything is known about the 2015, I can imagine why anybody would buy a 2014, specially a 100.000 Shelby.
