Yes, the bartenders had a device that sat on top of the can. They would hit it lightly and it popped both openings at once.

I found one of those cans on the bottom of the river a few years ago. The can was almost in perfect shape, just faded. I threw it in the boat but someone thought it was trash and chucked it at the marina with the other empty cans. :(
