I made the mistake of buying the Beats "on the ear" headphones and now I'm stuck with them. I think the sound quality is actually decent but they hurt my ears and head after about 10 minutes of having them on. My friend Wallace did his research and purchased the Sol (I think they're called) "over the ear" headphones and he said he loves them. I wish I would have pulled a Wallace. Now I'm out of cash and still need to purchase usable headphones. To each their own I guess, for me, it's all about comfort.

At any rate, he says the DRE headphones are just a marketing deal/NAME gimmick... YOu didnt see them at COSTCO by chance, when you were there to pick up the Girradelis TRIPPLE CHOCOLATE brownie mix??? I just saw those headphones Saturday at Costco and had the LONG discussion with my son about them...
I will stick with my folding KOSS that fit nicely in my backpack AND are a LIFESAVER on the airplane...
Yes I saw them and also saw the Damn Girradelis Tripple Chocolate brownies (UGH I want a brownie)!
Thanks for the input....

Wendi, have you tried to find out what kind she wants? Teenagers are finicky you know and have to have what's popular.

Bose is actually not very good either. Great marketing but poor sound.
Buy a set from a real Audio company. Any Harman brand like AKG, JBL, & HK. The new JBL S700 is one of the best sounds for the money ever.
Or any Sennheiser, Grado, or even some of the Sony headphones are good.
For in ear there is nothing better then the AKG K3003i. Seriously the worlds best in ear.
Skull Candy is mostly crap. They just hired their first actual engineer this year, so at least they are now trying. Most companies just buy off the shelf crap drivers from China and don't care how they sound.
Buy the new JBL S700 and never look back.
