    Much of that was the difference between a Allison and a RR GRIFFON not a RR Merlin. 2240 cid verses 1710

    Interestingly, in the REAL race, the Miss Madison leads the race almost from the start. In the movie he wins on the last straightaway with the use of a shot "naaws" in the last seconds.
    Also, in the movie, he beats the Miss Bud, in reality it was the Atlas Van Lines that was running 2nd.

    I was four years old when this happened. I clearly remember it. It was me and my grandpa out for the day and we were watching this race. So I was there. Loved the sounds, loved the boats, loved the crowd. My grandpa lived in madison at the time.

    Cool article Shooter. I believe the first Loudinboomer was a Mandella with a 392 Hemi and the long ass Morse dry stacks. Those tri Y headers made more power, but they don't live up to the name like the Morse dry stacks did.
