I have a lot of them were I live. I think the only time you need to fear them if its more than one or it be rabbid. They will try to trick a lone dog out and then the pack will kill it. I like your idea of beating the crap out of it though!

So true, I hear them calling out dogs all the time. The part I don't like is when a dog darts out in front of my truck on the dirt road with a coyote in tow, this happened again last Friday. Nothing I could do, and you can guess who won that battle.

All my run ins and sightings are after 8:00 am. But I hike in the hills in their territory. I'm going to take a golf club with me just in case I have to beat the crap out of it.
Why take a golf club when you can just kick him in the nuts like you did to William the other night?
I haven't seen Roscoe, how big is he? I think a coyote will turn and run away from you, I have chased them down the street in my neighborhood, they used to come off the hill and kill cats at night.

They will watch you just the same as you watch them, making sure that you don't attack them.
I've been within 15 feet of one with my shepard sized dog on leash.
Just be glad you aren't a roadrunner.
