There might have been less that the 26 I mentioned. I was going off the claimed 28 entered that was 10 less than the claim a week before the race which fully explains the reluctance to list the entries prior to the race. Which I somewhat figured was the reason. You can't 38 entries and post 28 if there were even that many a week before. I just deducted 2 boats that broke on Friday that didn't make the start from the claimed 28 entries. Was there less than 28 entries or did more than 2 boats break Friday? I don't know and don't really care.

Don't make it sound as though he saved this race or boat racing. It would have happened even if he hadn't stolen the race from the racers that developed it. I would never use the words "jumped in" when it comes to RD and this race. Sounds too much like a "rescue" Far from it.
