Just curious. Did you know that, or was the picture hint?
He met her in Italy while racing in Europe. He spoke no Italian, she spoke no English. I cannot imagine what they had in common
Still together, so I assume they learned to communicate. Or maybe not

The picture wasn't a hint but I sure do remember that episode, infamous indeed. I lived and breathed motocross back in the late 70s and 80s.

Nothing I the picture would lead you ton know La Porte was involved, that why I asked. You either knew it or you didn't. The most the picture could do is jerk the memory of somebody that already knew.
I rode a Suzuki at the time, and that did not go over well with me at all.

I rode yamaha at the time (still do) and was a huge Hannah fan and LaPorte to a lesser extent, hated Glover. I was conflicted, lol. Happy Yamaha won the title, pissed Glover won, and pissed Hannah and LaPorte got screwed.

Hannah got his revenge. When his contract came up he told them he wanted the license plate YAMAHA. They told him that was already taken by the president of Yamaha USA. He just smiled and said "I KNOW"

The motocross guys today need to erect a statue to Hannah. He was the king of aftermarket/accessory sponsorship money. When he told Bell helmets he wanted 10,000 to wear their hlemets they told him to screw himself. he showed up at the Super Bowl at the LA Coliseum wearing a Electro. When they asked him why the change over the PA while on the podium, he said "I rather stick my head in a toilet than a Bell helmet" They were on the phone the next day but it was too late.
