I'm hoping by then to fly out early, buy a boat, use it for the week, then sell it when we leave

Actually that's not a bad idea, there's a guy I know that does it every Summer, he stays for three weeks, but he buys a boat for 7-8K, uses it for the the time he's at LOTO then has a broker sell it for him, it works out great.
