 Turbines don't like salt water at all. If you look at the air inlet scoop, you'll see what is called a salt water snorkel (extension) just above the cockpit. They started using the salt water snorkel primarily because of the slow speeds during lane jockeying.  
 
This is what an Unlimited Hydro looks like going slow. I'm not sure about all snorkels but I know some of them have doors in them that they can close.
