I didn't float in the float thank god, but from what I saw seemed about the same turnout as last year. The wind was almost identical to last year too. What a mess. Looked like people were not moving at all. And a ton of them got stuck on the Az side of the river and looked like they gave up to me. We had a bunch of people at our park who were stranded. I also heard people were on the road flagging people down asking for rides.
I'll post up some pics later, but the LEO's were out in force this year like I've never seen before. At one point they were stopping every boat in front of our dock. I'm guessing it had something to do with a permit boaters were supposed to have. Shortly after though they stopped doing that, too many boats to pull over I guess.
Also saw Buckskin Fire and the LEO's heading down river several times.
One of the guys in our group saved a life Saturday. Apparently this lady was done, ready to give up. Told the guy she wasn't gonna make it. He pulled her out of the water and got her back on a raft.
All-in-all, assuming no one lost their life, it was a good day. So glad I hung at our beach and chilled there all day. 3-4hours to travel less than 2mi isn't my idea of a good time. And besides, if it don't have a motor on it, I want nothing to do with it
