The type depicted worked individually, it was all those damn mini light strings that aggravated the hell out of every one. Might be why they were only $3....LOL

I converted over to all LED Christmas lights for outside and the tree. Much better color Haven't had any quit yet, the box said if one does die the rest will stay lit.
