Broke motor mountain
My motor doesn't like me right now. 1990 454 mag. Paul OD1 picked up my boat last week. He sent me a text within minutes of having the thing saying "Bad news, call me". Zero compression from #6. Boat was hungry and ate a spark electrode.
So as the rain comes this weekend and people will be indoors and some will be searching the internet for boating content or perhaps new upgrades for their own rigs....help me find a new motor.
Here are the crucial points. My boat is a 1990 Hallet 240 closed bow. I paid peanuts for it. I don't mind it being stock'ish. Looking for about 400HP+/- power. I know once I start yearning for HP then I start spending WAAAAAYYYY more than I have in the boat between steering and all kinds of ridiculous "I need to go faster" crap. It could really use a trailer freshening, new floor, updated interior, repaired gel. Rather than getting something I know will get me in $ trouble I wouldn't mind finding a drop-in ready to rock (EFI preferred but not necessary) 454/502 and doing the critical TLC items that are needed. It's a pig and I want to keep it that way.
I have the wheels in motion on a rebuild of what's there. That's not out of the question either but if I'm going to pay someone to wrench on this thing I'll be damned if it's not more than what they took apart.
If I can't find a motor I may just get that spray seal crap over a screen door to cover the drive hole and strap on a minkota.

Oh man sorry to hear this. I'll keep an eye out, but probably not much else but race motors here this weekend.

Bummer for sure. Will keep eyes out for something. I'm better with finding vehicle motors.

Don't feel bad. Mine has ate itself everytime I have taken it out for 3 years.

Ouch. And I thought LL100 was expensive

Yeah it has really hurt my wallet and my pride. I keep losing oil pressure and no more bearings

Vehicle motors are perfectly fine as long as those vehicles are boats.

Did Paul let you know about this one?
*link removed. Motor had been sold anyway.
