One of my old ones. 30' Spectre with a pair of 300X's on the back. Had a whole lotta fun in that thing.
I wanted a pair of X's the year they quit making them, everybody reserved the entire production and dealers were asking and getting over MSRP. The immediate replacement was 250XS so I bought a pair '05's to replace the blown up Bridgeports. It's rumored(S&F) that the '05 and '06 were 275HP. When the 300XS came out it was very close to actual 300 HP and Mercury destuned the '07-current 250's to more differentiate it from the 300.
Anyway, may or may not be fact, but posted for conversation purposes.

It was on the internet so it must be true! Mine was an '02 and those had been mildly worked over. Was spinning 4 blade 32 Merc humpback cleavers and would run them out. Boat was tuned at Lake X and setup to run. Best I ever saw was in the mid one teens. Would run out around 105 on Pleasant every day of the week, regardless of time of year. It was a really fun boat, just not much in the way of function to it.
Very nice! I had it for almost 3 years and was looking for something that was a little more practical. Sold it to a guy I knew who sold it after about 4 months. Ruined the setup on it because he didn't learn how to drive it. Saw pics a while back of it for sale at a boat broker in Canada. They did some funky shit to her. Had a claim in the ad that it was a freshwater only boat so I sent them a pic:
