I'm kind of a purist.......I have probably 7-8 watches but wear 3 primarily;
This is the watch I have owned the longest.......it was my wedding present from my wife 30 years ago (We made payments for 5 years);
I picked up 2 of these Tudor Tigers through the years. Tudor is wholly owned by Rolex and at the time these watches were made ~2000 they used the same case as the Rolex Daytona. I always liked the looks of this watch better as it has the date function that is not available on the Daytona.........and they are about 25% of the cost. The 2nd one of these that I have has a red face. They both have both the Leather as well as a separate Stainless Steel Band.
But my everyday watch is the GMT Master II which has a 4th hand which takes 24 hours to circle the face and is used to display a 2nd timezone (typically Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)) hence the name. This is the preferred watch of many professional pilots as all flight plans and references when flying are stated in GMT which is necessary as pilots often fly through multiple timezones during a flight. This is also a popular watch with many world travelers, as I was in a previous life, as this watch allows you to simply adjust the hour hand independently and quickly when changing timezones.........all the while being waterproof to 10 atmospheres (330').
I also Have a Rolex DateJust in Stainless and 18K with a factory Diamond face that I won in a sales contest at one point during my career which I seldom wear as it just doesn't fit in most situations.
On the dress watch front I have an ultra-thin Movado that they haven't made for more than 10 years......looks like the museum watch but much thinner and has an alligator band that is reserved for the once or twice a decade that I find myself in a tuxedo and it is the perfect dress watch for that situation.
Oh yeah I have a few "throw away" watches that I wear in various casual situations like the Tommy Bahama watch that works well with Hawaiian Shirts.....but so does the Tiger so the bottom line is that I have too many watches.....I truly am a "Watch Hound"![]()
