You may not know it, but Carl Kiekiefer's cars were so dominate in Nascar that he was literally asked to go away and take his cars with him. He actually dropped out of car racing because he was so disliked by the organization and the other owners.
This was back when you had to race a car as it was delievered from the factory. He would have the entire car disassembled and re assembled by hand.
Every engine was torn down after every race. He was the first person to have a fully organized multi car team.
