Speaking of smilies?

How come the smilies posted don't always match the one chosen? I tried to post the "double bird" smilie and it ended up posting a "down thumb" one. I think the same thing happened the other night with the "applause" smilie too.

Any way to make the daily threads a sub-forum at the top of the off topic section? That way they will be much easier to find once the off topic section picks up.
