I'd bet with the casual work schedule you have you'd have no problem finding time to do a ride along (assuming your pal from the not so past would have you along).

As for Grads question, the equipment is good for 110, but we do 80 with it till they get some mods done, then we are supposed to do 90...that will make it a seriously fast trip...still, they are a kick in the ass to run, not like the 8000' freight trains I ran out through Indio for several years before coming to Amtrak....

There is a lot of history in what I do. As it has nearly always been, passenger trains were a seniority bid for the number one seat. At 25 years, I feel I have earned the seat, and try to do the guys that came before me proud. Someday, I will be admitted to that very exclusive club up there (or down there, as the case may be..LOL) and I will be able to look them in the eyes and not be ashamed...

Well thank you sir. Not sure how you guys know your crossings and shit but I live 1 mile west of a crossing at Fry road in Vacaville, 5 miles or so south of Dixon. Hear the horns blasting a lot at night. I work near Martinez and Oakland every day. I'll go for a ride.

Gotta meet me in Merced at the Amtrak station there on a Saturday, bring the family. I'll take you down to Hanford, you guys can go over and get some ice cream at the creamery there, and then go back on either 715 at about 3 or 717(my train) at about 5...let me know...

Otherwise, if you want the full tour, you can stick with me all the way to Bakersfield and have lunch across the street at the Mexican place and then come back with me on 717 returning to Merced at around 6:45 or so.....

Were at Disneyland all the time with the kids but never seem to run into you, I'll keep trying.

I'm on the road for a couple more days and back in the park Saturday. Conducting the Disneyland Band the next couple weeks. Say hey if you come in the park!
