I got a Groupon offer to "Try Scuba", it is a tease to get you to jump in Full Monty. So it consisted of diving in an eleven foot deep pool. In no more than 30 minutes of instruction we were diving. They gave us 1.5 hrs of pool time. Let me tell you they got me hook, line, and sinker. I want to get certified now, it's a pretty easy process, 2 three hour classrooms, 2 eight hour combined classrooms/pool, and 4 open water dives supervised by instructor, as I was told. Cost is about a $1000 and includes 3 day trip with lodging in San Carlos, Mexico for the open water dives.
Anyone else here a diver?

10 years ago it cost around$350, with rental gear and one boat dive. I guess the three day trip is the expensive part. Scuba is alot of fun.

Yea, the trip is good part of it, but hey 3 days 2 nights at Rocky Point.
I can tell they like to drink bc if you don't turn your mask around backwards when you come up you buy the instructor a beer. :p

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out and smokin, shouting "Holy Shit ...What A Ride!"

I always thought it would be cool to dive on Tahoe because of the clarity but it seems like you need some extra certification to dive at 6200'?

I got certified in college many years ago. I'm not surprised you're hooked, it can be addicting. I haven't done much in recent years and would prefer to go the first time back with an experienced diver. And I'm sure I need to get my regulator overhauled. The sad thing is that by dad has a 50' trawler that would make an ideal dive boat. Probably time to get started again!
