There are many ways to cure a problem....the problem with the brass housings are they ride on the propshaft and due to their weight the upper circumference wears more than the lower and with the seal on the same axis the upper lip of the seal wears out as well letting water in from the lower lip.
I chose to manufacture a light weight housing that would not only place the seal centered around the propshaft, but also eliminate the possibility of any undue weight riding on the propshaft with a chance of galling the propshaft.....so far so good after 20+ years. Sold in 1", 1 1/8" and 1 1/4"
